Hi this is John Michael with Expert Village. Today we’re gonna be talking about how to buy a used car. In this segment, I’m gonna talk about purchasing a used car from a private party.
In most cases, it’s less expensive to buy a car from someone else not a dealership because you don’t have to necessarily pay taxes. Private parties usually sell a car at little less than dealership as, but do be weary of little nick-nacks that maybe wrong with the car. Selling a car from a private party doesn’t necessarily mean (that) they’ve done what they need to do make sure that car is in tip-top selling condition.
To be sure you do your leg work when you’re buying a car from a private party. And have that vehicle inspected and have all the paperwork that you can find on that car. Take it down to your local dealership have them see if they can put in the vehicle VIN (vehicle identification number) number (to) find out their service records that they may or may not the god in the way from the previous owner.
Keep in mind that buying a car from a private party doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a better car and it doesn’t necessarily guarantee you a better price. But, odds are you can save money and you can get yourself a really good deal on a really good used car.
And also be prepared to take cash for that car. Because usually when you buy a car from a private party, they’re looking to get cash and get it upfront. They don’t usually have an opportunity or wait for you to finance that car. So be ready with a loan or with cash in your pocket when you going to look for a car to buy from a private party.
