I mean - я подразумеваю, you’ve never been told by some tea before - что с вами никогда не разговаривал чай прежде?
I love tea - я люблю чай.
Of course I do - конечно, I am an English man - ведь я - англичанин.
What’s this – что это?
It isn’t my cup of tea - это не моя чашка чая!
In English, - на английском языке, if there is something - если есть кое-что, we don’t like very much, - что нам очень не нравится, for example, - например, a sport or type of music, - спорт или какой-либо тип музыки, we can say - мы можем сказать, что:
“It’s not my cup of tea - это не моя чашка чая!”
Please – пожалуйста, turn that down, - выключите это, jazz really isn’t my cup of tea – джаз, действительно, не моя чашка чая.
And now time for a geography lesson: China is an extremely large country.
Can you imagine how much tea there is in China… a LOT!
Now, lucky you, today, I’m going to do anything at all that you ask… so come one… well, I wouldn’t do THAT, but all the tea in China!
In English, if there is something we will never do, we can say
“I wouldn’t do it for all the tea in China - Я не сделал бы этого и за весь чай в Китае”.
It means there is nothing; nothing even something worth great deal that could persuade you.
I can’t believe you ask me to do THAT!
Tea is hot, well a pot from iced tea, and where do we make the tea.
That’s right in a tea pot.
So, since tea is very hot, what do you think is a good material for tea pot?
Porcelain? yes!
Glass? Yes! Metal? Ok!
Chocolate? NO!
A chocolate teapot would be completely useless.
In English, if something is completely useless, we can say,
“it’s as good as a chocolate teapot!”
