 In this beginner English lesson you will hear people talking about pictures they have taken and asking each other questions about the people in the pictures.

M - Yeah, these are some pictures I took last time I was home
E - Do you mind if I look?
M - No, go ahead
E - Do you gome home often?
M - No I don´t. I usually go home once every two years or so. It´s too far away. How about you?
E - I try to go home every two or three months. Oh, who is this?
M - That´s my brother Charles. He´s studying at the University in Seattle.
E - You look very different. Anyway. What does he study?
M - He studies medecine. He wants to be a doctor.
E - Really. My good friend teaches at the University in Seattle. Which University is your brother at?
M - The University of Seattle, I think. Oh look at this picture. That´s my dog Susie. Isn´t she cute?
E - Yes, she is pretty cute. But I don´t like dogs so much, they are all dirty and loud.
M - Not Susie. My father wakes at six everry morning and takes her out for a walk. And he gives her a bath once a week. She´s really friendly. Do you have any pets?
E - I used to have a cat. But now I have fish. Hey. Who is this?
M - That´s my grandfather when he was in the Army

 What is the same about these questions?
 Yes, that´s right. They are all Yes / No questions.
 The answer is usally Yes or No.
 But why? How do we know the answer is Yes or No?

 The answer could be. Yes, it is or No it isn´t.
 Its a yes or no question

 When the verb is to BE, use IS or ARE in Yes/No questions
 Is for picture and Are for pictures.
 How about these? Do you take pictures?
 Yes I do. No I don´t
 Does he take pictures?
 Yes he does. No he doesn´t
 When the verb is not to Be, we use Do and Does
 Do for you. And does for he

 How many pictures do you have?
 This is not a Yes/No question. My voice does not go up.
 It is an information question
It uses sords like WHAT, WHERE and WHEN
Who is that in the picture?
 The answer is not Yes or NO. My voice dos not go up
